A Two Skirt Kinda Day

Hello there.  Long time no see.  With a large work project finally off my back, I was anxious to get back to the blog.  Regardless of who reads it or doesn't read it, creating blog posts is therapeutic for me.  Therefore, today is a good day.  :)

This morning I was all set to wear this skirt.

In fact, I had it on and was ready to go, shoes and all.  That was until I stood in front of my bedroom window - a sunny bedroom window.  My husband walked in and said "Whoa, hello everything.  That skirt is totally see through!"  After a few seconds of unplanned groping, I changed my skirt.  I will be ordering a slip today.  Where does one even buy slips anymore?  Hmmm...

Being pushed for time and knowing it was a maxi day for me, I kept everything the same and decided upon the Water's Edge skirt.  Double layers of thick jersey, you are not seeing through this one.

I did have to choose between a clunky necklace and scarf though.  It was a bit cool out so I opted for the scarf.  Did I do ok?

I felt super comfy all day if not just a tad boring.  Perhaps I should've been born in the 60s.  They totally had the best and most comfy clothes!

Cutesy on a Rainy Wednesday OOTD

Not typically one to gravitate towards the "cute" fashions, this outfit was a little uncomfortable for me.  The feminine sweater made it feel a little more girly than I'm used to.  But, we made it through the day and I finally got to wear a new skirt that's been sitting in my closet for well over a month.  I still think I'm missing the mark on something, but eh what can ya do.  This is me.  Typically a day late and a dollar short.  :)

I have to say though, I LOVE this skirt (available HERE - also comes in olive green at stores).  The Gap is usually hit or miss with me, but when they do it right, it's awesome.

I've been dying to wear these earrings ever since I picked them up about a month ago.  They may not really go here, but heck, I needed to wear 'em.

There once was a purple sweater

it was ruffly and thick and had a funky bow and buttons where buttons need not be.  The minute I spotted it, I was sure I would just love, love, love it.  And then I put it on. Que the chirping crickets.  Hmmm...totally on the fence with this one.  My husband liked it.  And I mean REALLY liked it.  I was showered with smooches before work.  One thing I know I like though, it is slimming (yay).

Perhaps it would be better with some black wide leg trousers?  Perhaps I just need to get really into working out again.  And by getting really into it, I mean actually doing some form of physical activity besides laundry.  Grrrr, nasty winter!  You need to leave now!!

Ok, so I went the whole day in my purple ruffly goodness.  It's been decided that I like it.  The empire waist really elongates the body and that is always a good thing.  The bow is still kind of weird for me and the flounce may make me look a little hippy, but as of right now, it is not destined for ebay.

Black & Brown OOTD

I've seen a lot of posts about breaking the whole don't wear brown and black together "rule".  Figured I'd give it a try.  I think this looked much better in person than it does in the photos, but maybe not.  Definitely out of my comfort zone and I feel like I'm having an off week with the whole fashion thing, but I will not give up (yet).  Luckily, it was a comfy outfit.  I highly recommend corduroy leggings - soft and comfy!  Maybe this needs a thin belt at the waist or a longer cardi or something?  Or maybe I just need a stylist!

My next job to tackle is accessories.  I've never been big on necklaces, earrings, etc., but I see how they can really make an outfit.  Hoping to find some nice pieces to tie my wardrobe together.  Would love some recommendations - particularly for Etsy sellers.  I love supporting  independent artisans.

When You Can Wear Jeans to Work

Let's just say it's very easy to get into a rut.  Five mornings a week I work in an office with zero dress code and zero supervision (for the most part).  Love it.  The rest of the day and sometimes on weekends, I work from home.  Again, no dress code, no supervision, nobody sees me.  Even when I strictly worked from home, I would shower and get dressed, but there were lots o' sweatpants going on.  Just over a year ago when I added the office job, I would wear jeans but with a nice top, perhaps a scarf, etc.  Over the past few months, it's gone to jeans and a tee shirt - even leggings and a sweatshirt!  Gasp.  I've gotten very lax to say the least.

This year I'm going to amp it up again.  Even though nobody sees me for the most part, it's nice to look like you care and I do feel better when I look good and put together.

Here's an outfit I wore for drinks with my husband that I would also wear to work.  Well, with a nude tank under the lace shirt.
