Doing the 70s Full On

Since I have been so in love with my Paige Lou Lou flares, I decided to go one step further and purchase a pair of bell bottoms.  Saw the AG Farrahs on Anthro but the price was too steep for something I was unsure about so I hit up Ebay and scored a pretty good deal.

While I do love the shape of these jeans, the higher waist will take some getting used to.  The low rise usually works for me because I carry my little flab pooch above the low rise waist.  These mid rise jeans hit me right at the flab so they were a tad tight in that area.  But I have been working out fairly intensely for almost a week so I'll keep them as I'm hoping the pooch will disappear in time (if I can keep the momentum going).  Also, these aren't as "bell-bottomy" as I thought they'd be.

Anyway, here's the best 70s I could do with what was in my closet.

Spring? OOTD

There are some upsides to being strapped to my computer and the Internet all day.  During slow times I can catch up on my blog roll, grab a pair of shoes at the start of a sale before they sell out, enjoy commercial free radio on Pandora, obsessively check on the airfare for our summer trip...  Last week I was lucky enough to catch Lisa from Respect the Shoes' blog sale post pretty much the minute it hit the airwaves and quickly landed a super sweet skirt from J Crew.  It arrived last week and I was excited to wear it out. 

The weather however has had other plans for me.  Today I decided it had to happen and paired my new-to-me "springy" skirt with my winter wear.

My husband did not like my navy blue cardigan with this outfit at all.  He also didn't care for the skirt (it's not skin tight).  But I wore it anyway and felt quite happy with it.  Do you think a different color on top would work better?  Perhaps pulling a pink or even the mustard yellow from the skirt?

OOTD - First Day of Spring & a B-Day

This year on the first day of spring we had a party to go to.  My little nephew (actually, he's my grand nephew but that just makes me sound much older than 37) is turning 2.  Party was held at my sister-in-law's house and the weather was pretty nice.  Warm sun but the wind had a bit of bite to it.  I figured a good ole cardigan was the way to go here.

And luckily I decided not to have my new Paige Lou Lou's hemmed before washing and drying them.  The length is now perfect for the wedges I would typically wear with these.  Probably could lose an inch off the bottom, but after seeing how much they shrunk, I'm just going to keep 'em as is.

Cutesy on a Rainy Wednesday OOTD

Not typically one to gravitate towards the "cute" fashions, this outfit was a little uncomfortable for me.  The feminine sweater made it feel a little more girly than I'm used to.  But, we made it through the day and I finally got to wear a new skirt that's been sitting in my closet for well over a month.  I still think I'm missing the mark on something, but eh what can ya do.  This is me.  Typically a day late and a dollar short.  :)

I have to say though, I LOVE this skirt (available HERE - also comes in olive green at stores).  The Gap is usually hit or miss with me, but when they do it right, it's awesome.

Mod Cloth Color Injection OOTD

Couldn't resist the cozy sale at Mod Cloth last week despite the "final sale" condition.  Luckily, I didn't purchase much and only had two items that are now gracing my Ebay "Items for Sale" page!  :)

Since the temps dipped again today, I knew it was going to be a jeans day.  Totally had a skirt and tights in mind but it just wasn't to be.  So I threw together two of my Mod Cloth sale items to bring a little color into my day.  How'd I do?  Still something missing, right?

Probably could've done some cuter shoes but my pants are too short for heels (they are my favs though and I can't let them go).  So ballet flats it was.

What Goes Around Comes Around

Pretty certain I've confessed about my love of tight pants previously, but I do have an exception.  I absolutely adore classic trousers - in denim, of course.  For my figure type, they are usually very flattering.  The slant of the pockets, the higher flat waist, a fit that hugs the hips and then widens and elongates the legs.  What's not to like?

A few years ago I splurged on a pair of white Seven denim trousers (still have and love them).  Instantly, I was in love.  And shhhh, but I used to wear them to my "no jeans" job in the city.  You couldn't tell they were denim.  At least I wasn't telling!

How thrilled was I this season with the resurgence of the denim trouser.  I will be buying another pair or two, but for now I settled on a pair from the Gap and it's love all over again.  Dressed them up a bit today for the office.

These jeans are great.  Super comfortable.  They fit perfectly (although they appear to run long.  I usually wear a long length, but when I tried the long, they were ridiculously so).  I love all the perfect little details too.  Can't wait to search my closet for other goodies to use to rock these jeans.

Offer Meeting Attire

Why is it that corporate positions always require so many meetings on so many different occasions with so many different people??  I've always thought it to be such a waste.  But anyway, this is what I wore to my 2nd interview/offer meeting.  Now the real fun begins.  Deciding if I should go back to working for someone else.  Not my first choice, but sometimes in life we don't have many fun options.

There may possibly be a tattoo on my right ankle so when wearing a skirt for an interview, dark tights are a must.  After hire though, all bets are off and you let your freak flag fly!

I think all went well during my meeting so we'll see what happens next.  Perhaps I'll need to go in again.  For more meetings!  I'll need more clothes.  :)

Job Update: Unfortunately, despite a super attractive salary, benefit and perk package and the chance to work with my old boss again, I had to turn down this job offer.  My husband and I just could not work out the whole what to do with the kids after school thing.  It is a sad day when you realize that your options are very limited and that you don't have the support you thought you did.

But after seeing myself wearing them, not so much.  They make me look much bigger on the bottom than I am.  Sigh...

I like the upper portion here, but I'm very not happy about the pants.  I've had these for years too and wore them often when I worked in Manhattan!  Oh well.  Perhaps this top will look better with a leaner pant or a pencil skirt.
