Not Feeling It OOTD

Another day when there was a dress and heels on the agenda.  Another day where I woke up and said yuck, can I just wear my sweats.  We didn't resort to sweats and I did manage to keep the sweater and shoes from the original plan in the mix, but this was the best I could do.

Anybody else really missing warm weather?  I don't need 80s, although that would be great, but can I just leave my damn gloves and coat at home already??!!

Here's my cold weather alternative to a beautiful feminine dress that's begging to be worn.  I really love this sweater.  The details and fit are very nice, but something about the collar reminds me of that ruffly ring clowns wear around their neck (see close up below).  What do you think?
cords - Blank NYC via Piperlime; tank - Madewell; sweater - Anthropologie Ha'Penny; shoes - Target; nails - Zoya Eve

I did make a discovery today.  I have no bright colors in my closet.  There is color yes, but bright color, no.  A nice bright tank would've been better under this sweater today in my opinion.  Gonna have to remedy that with more shopping!!

Ok, ok, I admit it - I changed into flats before work.

Mixed Media & Big Boots

This was one of those days where the outfit I had all set out the night before, just didn't work.  My last minute scramble to get myself dressed resulted in a variety of this and that.  We have corduroy, velvet, wool and the always wonderful, pleather.  My husband was surprised that it all seemed to come together.  It was ok.  Not sure it will make a repeat appearance all in the same day again.  :)

The pics - sorry, didn't notice that my curtains are nearly the exact color of my pants until my little photo session was complete.  Durr...
Cord leggings - American Eagle; sweater - Madewell; velvet tank & necklace - Loft; boots - G for Guess; nails - OPI's Lucertainly Look Marvelous

All in all, a comfy outfit.  But my fake leather boots (a/k/a vegan leather LOL) are a little squeaky when I sit down and they look like pirate boots with the whole top flap and all.  Anyone have an eye patch and parrot I can borrow?

Black & Brown OOTD

I've seen a lot of posts about breaking the whole don't wear brown and black together "rule".  Figured I'd give it a try.  I think this looked much better in person than it does in the photos, but maybe not.  Definitely out of my comfort zone and I feel like I'm having an off week with the whole fashion thing, but I will not give up (yet).  Luckily, it was a comfy outfit.  I highly recommend corduroy leggings - soft and comfy!  Maybe this needs a thin belt at the waist or a longer cardi or something?  Or maybe I just need a stylist!

Sorry about the photos, I'm still headless and tripodless.  Perhaps I got prematurely excited about Dolica sending me a free replacement part.  Arrrrgh.
Pants - Blank via Piperlime; cardi - Victoria's Secret; print tank - Madewell; white tank - Loft; botties - G by Guess; spider necklace - Little King custom (wedding gift from the hubbers)

My next job to tackle is accessories.  I've never been big on necklaces, earrings, etc., but I see how they can really make an outfit.  Hoping to find some nice pieces to tie my wardrobe together.  Would love some recommendations - particularly for Etsy sellers.  I love supporting  independent artisans.

When You Can Wear Jeans to Work

Let's just say it's very easy to get into a rut.  Five mornings a week I work in an office with zero dress code and zero supervision (for the most part).  Love it.  The rest of the day and sometimes on weekends, I work from home.  Again, no dress code, no supervision, nobody sees me.  Even when I strictly worked from home, I would shower and get dressed, but there were lots o' sweatpants going on.  Just over a year ago when I added the office job, I would wear jeans but with a nice top, perhaps a scarf, etc.  Over the past few months, it's gone to jeans and a tee shirt - even leggings and a sweatshirt!  Gasp.  I've gotten very lax to say the least.

This year I'm going to amp it up again.  Even though nobody sees me for the most part, it's nice to look like you care and I do feel better when I look good and put together.

Here's an outfit I wore for drinks with my husband that I would also wear to work.  Well, with a nude tank under the lace shirt.

Sorry about the cut off pics.  Was hoping you could see the shoes.  Still no tripod and nobody home to shoot.
Cardigan - Madewell
lace top - Victoria's Secret
boot cut jeans - ReRock for Express (extremely flattering, highly recommended)
shoes - grey flannel pumps by Jessica Simpson

Madewell Haul!

Decided to take advantage of the recent Madewell sale.  I think it was 30% off sale items or some sort of discount like that.  As you can see, I did act on that whole notion to add more color into my life.  Well, perhaps not with the grey cardi, but hey, I'm trying.

So far I like the quality of the items.  Have only tried on the dress so far and it's nice.  Perhaps it has something to do with those mustard yellow tights I recently ordered.  We'll have to wait and see.  Now I just have to figure out what else to wear with these colorful numbers!  Any ideas?  Fashion advice is always welcome here.  Lord knows I could use it.

Here's a little Polyvore action to show you what the lovely UPS man just delivered since no picture I take will show all the detail in these colorful numbers.
